When was the last time you checked the mood of your team?

Once you have that People Plan and a strong vision is in place, effectively communicating it to your teams is the first step to bring everyone on-board, feeling valued for their contribution.

We might be inclined to think it’s best to broadcast our vision, we mustn't forget that we had weeks to process and plan why such decisions were made.

A focus on a human centric culture, putting your people at the heart of it and really focussing on what their needs are is crucial, particularly at a time like this.

How the team reacts, and therefore, embraces this strategy, will very much depend on how they "feel" to start with and whether they are brought along on the journey.

A good way to gain insight into the overall company mood is by doing regular Mood Monitoring and Pulse surveys.

Once the overall mood of the team is gauged, depending on the outcomes, next steps should be carved out and some of the suggestions below will help you to ensure that you stay on track:

  • Regular team communications

  • Look at the your incentives and benefits and see if they are still fit for purpose

  • Continue mood monitoring

  • Get managers properly trained to have difficult conversations

Company wide team engagement is ultimately based on "values" and how aligned your tasks and ways of working are to those values. It is important to reinforce this to your teams.

This is your chance to build strong leadership that guides your team and improves overall wellbeing and therefore productivity. Remember that leading with honesty and clarity will give them a sense of trust in you, which is the first step.

At Your People Associates we run several different forms of pulse and engagement surveys. Reach out to discuss what your needs might be and we can tailor these to your business and give you the insight and data to ensure that you are properly assessing the mood and engagement of your team and therefore, fully equipped to deal with any common issues that might be arising.

Remote working has meant that we are dealing with many more issues such as anxiety, stress and overworking and catching these early can make a big difference to the output of your team. Remember that highly engaged teams add 43 percent to your bottom line (Hay Group).

In our February communications we are focusing on Agile Planning to ensure that growth is achieved in today's business climate! Make sure you stay tuned into the next blog on how to break down your People Plan into Steady Action that gets you to the Finish Line!

Get ready to START, SCALE & SOAR.
